Luca soccer club announced the home stadium for the upcoming 2021-22 season, Kottappadi Football stadium. The announcement was made through a different video highlighting the culture of Malappuram.
The stadium is one of the earliest places where football is rooted, Malappuram is undoubtedly considered to be the cradle of Indian football and the stadium has much of its glory.
Malappuram has a long history with football and its connection with the game dates back to the British period in India. The historic Kottapadi Maidan or ‘Kavathu Parambu’ as it was known back then, has witnessed endless football battles between the natives and Britishers. Built first as a stud farm before Independence, it became a march past ground for the British Army where they also played football that drew interest in locals.
Malappuram is often well known for its sports enthusiasm and spirit, Popularly known as the ‘Soccer Capital’ of Kerala. The stadium is regularly full-packed with spectators during any tournaments and matches held here. The spectators are not only young but also senior locals.
Senior, Reserve and all teams of Luca soccer club will play their home matches at Kottappadi football stadium upcoming season.
